In the hit coming-of-age comedy, high-school buddies Seth (Hill) and Evan (Cera) get invited to a party the night before their graduation. They then embark on a mission to score some liquor and attempt to lose their virginities. Written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the fan-favorite received critical acclaim and its behind-the-scenes history is nearly as memorable as the movie itself.

“Superbad” is inspired by Rogen and Goldberg’s own experiences. The film’s cast features Emma Stone, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Martha MacIsaac, and Bill Hader. Directed by Greg Mottola and produced by Judd Apatow and Shauna Robertson, “Superbad” grossed $170.8 million at the box office.

Producer Judd Apatow wants a sequel to “Superbad,” but the cast doesn’t. In an episode of the “Inside of You podcast” with Michael Rosenbaum, Apatow revealed his idea for the second film: Seth flunks out of school and unexpectedly visits Evan at Dartmouth College.

Despite Apatow’s interest, the cast remains hesitant. Apatow told Rosenbaum that they’re reluctant because they don’t “want to screw up ‘Superbad’ by accidentally making a crappy second one.”

Is ‘Superbad’ worth watching?

“Superbad” is considered a modern teen comedy classic. Since its release, the film has maintained popularity, and it currently holds an “87% Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
